About Us

Hi, I’m Melanie. I started my solo private practice after working over ten years in addiction and dual diagnosis treatment programs - in every level of care, every program model, every financial structure, and nearly every position! My work led me to not only love working with clients who have faced life’s toughest battles and to develop an integrative, holistic, and trauma-focused approach, but also gave me great skills as a program developer, administrator, clinical supervisor, budget reader, data cruncher, business leader, strategist, start-up expert, and intentional designer of physical and online spaces.

Once I started my private practice, the only thing I missed about agency work was supervising and mentoring other clinicians - not only supporting their growth as excellent therapists, but helping them find a path that was most authentically theirs, and finding confidence in their unique set of skills and voice as a therapist. So, I started providing clinical supervision and consultation.

Through my work supervising clinicians working in a variety of agency settings and other private practice groups, as well as my own experiences in exploitive agencies, I wanted to invite people in to Align Wellness and create a place that could help people get into a more rewarding environment that allowed for true work-life balance - without needing all the business skills that I had acquired (that not many therapists have), without having to cash in their retirement accounts for start-up capital, and without the existential stress and crisis that small business ownership can sometimes bring in the early stages.

It has always been a goal of mine to serve not only as a permanent home for clinicians who want to stay in a group practice setting, but also as a stepping stone for those who do have business admin skills and a desire to take on the risks and rewards of owning their own practice. After “graduating” several women into business ownership, and providing private consultation to others either starting out in private practice or making a shift from solo practice to group practice, I decided to formalize these offerings and create win-win-win situations for any clinician wanting some support as they start their own business. A win for me, because it provides a flexible source of income so I can stay home more often with my daughter and have more variety in my work, and because these skills are second-nature to me now. A win for you, because I remember how utterly overwhelming (and unpleasant) these steps can be when you’re first starting out! And a win for your future clients, who are going to benefit from your particular set of skills being shared so effectively in the world.

My vision is that all clinicians, especially women and all members of oppressed communities, would be able to have as much independence as they are comfortable with in their work. That all clinicians would be able to have a work-life balance that allows them to freely give their very best selves to their clients.

Our mission is clinician thriving, with abundance and ease.

“Forget hustle. Do not fix. Cease striving. Healing is a different kind of hard work.”
